Shakira's Painful Split From Gerard Piqué
Despite being together for 11 years, Shakira and Piqué never married. However, they share two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9. The singer believed she and the former soccer star would be together forever, but those wishes crumbled in June 2022 when their romance ended.
Shakira spoke to Billboard in a September 2023 cover story and shared her disappointment about the split. She said, "My priority was my home, my family. I believed in till death do us part. I believed that dream, and I had that dream for myself, for my children. My parents have been together, I don't know, 50 years, and they love each other like the first day, with a love that's unique and unrepeatable. So I know it's possible."

Shakira Found Solace In Friendships
Despite losing out on love, Shakira gained beautiful friendships. In an October 2024 chat with GQ Spain, she opened up about the pain she endured after her long-term relationship with Piqué ended.
She said per Goal.com, "I've realized that friendship is longer than love. I didn't know that. Life took a husband from me but gave me so many friends. I never felt as loved, as held, as I did by my friends. I must have done something right in life to have so many people that love me."
The 47-year-old revealed that some of her friendships had been there for two decades while others were new and described them as "life's rewards." She concluded, "When there's so much pain, God squeezes, but he lets you breathe."

Music Helped The Singer Heal
For many months after her separation from her kids' father, Shakira stayed silent and tried to mourn. However, she couldn't do so until she began writing music.
She said of music, "It was my way of healing. And it continues to be. Grief is a process that is not linear. It is full of peaks and valleys."
When asked how she views love now after her separation, Shakira said, "It's not the same. The love of a partner disappointed me. It affected my idiosyncrasy. It's inevitable, at least for the moment, that I have lost trust in the other. The healing process is long. It will take me several albums."
Chris Martin's Relationships
Like Shakira, Martin has endured his fair share of broken relationships. The Coldplay co-founder married Gwyneth Paltrow on December 5, 2003, and welcomed two kids with her: daughter Apple, born in 2004, and son Moses, born in 2006.
Martin and Paltrow announced their separation in March 2014, describing it as a "conscious uncoupling." The actress filed for divorce in April 2015, and it was finalized in July 2016.
After his divorce from Paltrow, Martin had an on-and-off relationship with "Peaky Blinders" actress Annabelle Wallis from August 2015 to August 2017.
